What Are Safety Mats and How They Work

Published

on

There is a priority element to maintain safety in industrial environments where it is not feasible to reduce the danger by hindering contact with it through enclosures or security screens. It is an alternative system that monitors and acts on possible accidents.

This element of supervision is called carpet or safety mats. It is used to protect people in machines and industrial plants where the operator must be present while the machine is interacting. These mats are installed to cover the danger zone where a person could suffer an accident just by standing at that point.

That is why they are regularly obtained in use along the passage areas. But, what are safety mats and how does the safety mat work, are questions we want to answer below.

What Are Safety Mats?

Safety mats or mats are, as has already been mentioned, an element of supervision and protection. This has been designed to detect the presence of machines or people on your detection surface.

These mats are used to protect personnel within hazardous areas, such as areas near presses, production lines, machines and robots. They regularly have 2 hardened steel conductive plates, which are separated by non-conductive compressible separators.

Each of the safety mats carries 4 cables. With these they are connected to other mats in the form of series, thus forming a protection system at ground level for the most dangerous areas.

The circuit passing through the mat must be supervised by a safety-rated control unit. This can be a safety relay, a control unit, or a carpet manager. When the mat is reset, the control unit is able to provide a secure signal to the machine’s control circuit.

Anti Microbial Mats

An increasingly used element is ergonomic, anti microbial mats and safety mat; it is used in different work environments such as shops, bars, hairdressers, hospitality, offices, assembly line or any other sector in which workers have to be on their feet for many hours.

These mats not only provide safety but also benefit the health of workers. Well, the design of these mats produces a slight and imperceptible sway that activates the muscles of the legs and calves, thus facilitating blood flow and thus improving circulation.

These mats used in the workplaces help to reduce pressure points by distributing the weight evenly. By achieving the right balance, pain in the lower back is avoided, in addition to tiredness and other chronic pains.

If these mats are used in the workplace, it will be possible to improve worker productivity and reduce absenteeism linked to this type of pathology.

How Does The Safety Mat Work?

The safety mats are basically made up of a PVC surface, and it is inside where there are two independent steel plates that conduct the current.

As already mentioned, these plates are separated by insulating strips. If a pressure greater than 35 kilograms were generated on the mat, the mat would be activated, producing a short circuit between the steel panels.

It is just at that moment that the safety module connected to the mat comes to evaluate the signal and act on its safety exits in order to stop the dangerous movement.

What kind of sugar is used to make cotton candy?

Published

on

Spinning sucarosa into candy is easy with the cotton candy machine found at carnivals and town fairs across the country. And while regular table sugar will produce the tasty caramel, known as cotton candy or cotton candy, the secret sugar ingredient used involves some artificial coloring and flavor, called Flossine.

Table sugar

Beet or cane sugar processed into sucarosa can be used by most commercial cotton candy manufacturers. However, sugar mixed with Flossine is ideal. You can find Flossine where machines are sold and rented and it is simply the flavor and coloring that turns white cotton clouds into cone-shaped pink or blue candy at fairs.

Process

Cotton candy is made by heating sugar in liquid and then passing it through a rotating machine into small holes in the unit. As the thread or “silk” spins out of the rotating machine, they are wound into a paper cone.

Story

Although the notion of melting sugar to make candy has been around for centuries, credit for the first cotton candy goes to American inventors William J. Morrison and John C. Wharton, whose centrifugal machine for spinning sugar was center stage. From the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.

Science

Sucrose, or sugar, is a carbohydrate molecule, made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen: C12H22O11. It is commonly derived from cane or beet sugar and its melting point is at 186 ° C.

Machines

Cotton candy making machines come in a variety of sizes and models, from children’s versions to industrial models designed for long-term use for profit. Sugar used in commercial machines can be purchased where the devices are sold or rented. However, carnival settlers generally add Flossine, which can also be bought in stores or online, to fine sugar to make their own less expensive cotton candy mix. Today, colors and flavors go from one side of the rainbow to the other.

If we want our cotton to have a different color or flavor, we have two options:

Add the white sugar along with the coloring and flavoring when preparing the cotton candy. It is not the most recommended option since the sugar and additives do not mix properly.

Prepare the sugar in advance with the desired color and flavor, after preparing it, add it to the machine to make the cotton. Here you can see How to color sugar to prepare Cotton Candy?

Buy the Sugar to make cotton already prepared. This is an easy option and there is a lot of variety on the market. Here you have a link where you can Buy Sugar for cotton.

Steps to follow for the Cotton Candy Recipe

How to make cotton candy with the machine

  1. Place the sugar already prepared in the central container. For this we use the measuring spoon that the machine brings, it can be 1 or 2 servings, depending on the amount of cotton we want to prepare.
  2. Turn on the cotton candy machine to heat the sugar and melt it. Some people heat the machine first, once hot, they turn it off and then add the sugar. This is not recommended.
  3. Once the sugar threads start to come out, we start to collect it with a wooden stick, turning successively so that the cotton forms like a cloud. The first time, which cloud may not be as beautiful as possible, but with the use of the machine, experience will give us the ability to make a spectacular cotton cloud.

How to Find the Area of a Scalene Triangle?

Published

on

Any polygon that is closed and has three vertices, three edges, and three angles is called a triangle. There are many different types of triangles based on the classification of sides and angles. Additionally, there are several concepts, such as the area of scalene triangle that must be thoroughly understood by kids. In this article, we will learn more about triangles with a special focus on scalene triangles.

Classification of triangles On the Basis of Sides

Equilateral Triangle

All the sides are of equal measure, and the triangle is equiangular. This implies that each angle measures 60 degrees.

Isosceles Triangle

This triangle has two equal sides. As the two sides are equal hence, the angles opposite to these sides are also equal.

Scalene Triangle

A scalene triangle is one in which all three sides are of unequal measure. This also means that none of the angles are of equal measure. If the two sides of a triangle are not congruent, then it can be classified as a scalene triangle. An example of a scalene triangle is the sail of a boat. As all the sides are of different measure thus, when it is raised, the sail forms a scalene triangle.

Properties of a Scalene Triangle

  • The sides’ lengths are not equal.
  • The angles are also of unequal measure.
  • There is no point or line of symmetry. This implies that it cannot be broken down into two identical halves.
  • The internal angles can be any of the three angles – acute, obtuse, or right.
  • If all the angles are less than right angles, the center of the circumscribing circle will be inside the triangle.
  • If all the angles are greater than right angles, the center of the circumscribing circle will be outside the triangle.

Area of a Triangle

The following techniques can be used to find the area of a scalene triangle depending upon the known and unknown parameters.

1. Heron’s Formula

Herons formula can be used to calculate the area of a scalene triangle. The requirement to apply this formula is that we know all the sides of the triangle. Suppose we know the three sides of a triangle given by a, p, and l; then, according to the formula, we need to find the semi perimeter before proceeding to determine the area of the triangle.

  • Semi perimeter, s = (a + p + l) / 2
  • Area of the scalene triangle = √[s (s – a) (s – p) (s – l)]

2. Height Base Formula

If we know the height of the scalene triangle and the corresponding base, we can use this formula as it is easier to apply. The height is a perpendicular dropped from a vertice to one side of the triangle that is known as the base. The following formula is known as the height base formula.

Area of a scalene triangle = ½ × (height) × (base).

Conclusion

There are other methods to find the area of a triangle, such as trigonometric formulas when we know certain angles. Additionally, the law of cosines is useful to calculate an unknown third side. Kids can find it confusing to apply these formulas to questions, especially if they do not possess the speed and accuracy of calculations. To combat this problem, they can turn to a platform such as Cuemath that helps kids instill a robust mathematical foundation. The certified experts use several resources such as worksheets, workbooks, puzzles, etc., to ensure that kids have a fun learning experience while getting access to the best quality of education.
