TIPS FOR CHOOSING CURTAINS

Published

on

Tips for choosing curtains
When decorating our house we have to take into account several criteria such as the color of the wall of the furniture and also the color and style of the curtains since they will cover the entire window on the days that the sun bothers or They will also be thrown depending on their opacity. For this reason, it is very important to be correct when placing curtains and for them we leave you some tips to choose curtains that will be able to clarify all those doubts that arise at the time of purchase.

The shape of the window

The type of window, as well as the orientation of the room, are determining factors when choosing curtains. Maintain the ratio between the amount of fabric you use and the length of the window and think about how much sun and light comes in: do you need thick or rather transparent curtains?

Calculate the meters of fabric well

Calculator in hand, count the meters of fabric you need for your curtains: add 30 cm to the width of the window and then multiply the result by 2, 2.5 or 3, depending on whether you want a curtain with more or less gathers.

What is the ideal length?

In terms of lengths there are many trends. The most common is to add about 15 cm to the length of the window. However, if you like the curtains to drag like we do, add 10 cm more: this way they will rest on the floor. You already know that at El Mueble we like them like this …

A nice fall!

For drapes with a nice drape, opt for “heavy” fabrics, like heavy linens, wild silks, or chenillas. If you want to wear fresh fabrics, choose canvases, cotton hessian, or linens with silk.

For practical families: blinds!

If the window does not allow large curtains and you want a practical and light solution, the blinds will be your best allies. You can put them foldable (with rods), packet (without rods) or Roman (with draping).

Gain light with the curtains

To gain natural light, use sheer fabric to make the curtains. Its fabrics, vaporous and light (yarn, voile, open-weave linen …), are perfect to let in all the sunlight.

Dare to combine!

Large windows, balcony doors and bedroom windows are the best spaces where to use combinations: curtains with sheers (the most classic option), or drapes with blinds (more current). Think that the more views a window, the more prominence you will give, to it and to the views.

Tie-backs: useful and practical

Tiebacks are small pieces of wood or metal that, placed one third of the way up the curtain, create an elegant draping effect perfect for gathering up the curtains. They will always bring a classic and romantic touch.

Clamps: a charming accessory

In windows with double curtains, curtains lined with fleece or combinations of fall and curtain, use clamps (strips or cords that hold the curtain): they are ideal to collect the fabric and create an eye-catching effect, which highlights the windows.

Why I Never Choose a Hotel Room on My Trips

Published

on

I never choose a hotel room on my trips. I always feel uncomfortable and rushed when in one. I prefer to stay in short-term rental apartments. This gives me more control over my time and space. I often find good ones for my holiday from https://www.mrg.apartments/. I’ll discuss the reasons in this article though.

When I’m planning a trip, I usually book a hotel online. But It can be hard to find actual details about the hotel rooms I’ll be staying in.

I can see pictures of the rooms, read reviews, and compare prices. But I’ve stayed in lots of different types of accommodation. Many don’t even keep the promises they give.

  • I find it hard to find a good place to live on holiday.

I’ve found that certain brands offer more comfort than others. I have made a set of requirements for choosing a place to stay –

  • Choose a budget-friendly place.

I try to find a cheap hotel. You don’t need to stay in a luxury hotel if you’re on a tight budget. But this can be very hard to balance if you choose a hotel.

A short-term rental apartment that I found at MRG Apartments when I was in Bucharest cost me less than £50 per night. It may still seem expensive. But it will save you money in the long term. Those places are generally clean, comfortable, and safe. They won’t have fancy amenities, but they’ll be fine for your purposes.

  • They are often placed away from amenities.

Look for a place near public transport. Many hotels are not located close to train stations, airports, bus stops, and other forms of public transportation. This makes it hard for you to travel to and from your destination.

But when choosing short-term rental apartments, I have a lot of options to choose from. That cover the requirement of location.

  • I try to avoid chain hotels.

Chain hotels are popular because they’re convenient. But they tend to be impersonal, noisy, and dirty. They are also very expensive.

Stay somewhere else if you’re looking for a bargain. If you’re willing to sacrifice some convenience, then you might be able to find a cheaper alternative.

Try searching for short-term rental apartments instead of hotels. Those are typically smaller than hotels and usually located in central locations. They’re also usually cheaper than hotels.

  • Hotels often charge you more for WiFi.

Very few hotels offer free WiFi. Free Wi-Fi is becoming increasingly common in hotels. Still, many hotels these days don’t include free Wi-Fi in their rooms. Sometimes it is even harder to find Wi-Fi throughout the whole building.

But short-term rental apartments give you this. This is especially useful when I spend a lot of time in your room.

  • You can book apartments easily through a third-party site.

There are plenty of websites that allow you to search for an apartment available for renting. These sites are great for finding discounted rates. They also let you sort results based on price, location, star rating, and other criteria.

  • It is very hard to find a hotel that suits you.

It is hard to find a hotel that suits your needs. Be careful when you’re selecting a hotel. Not all hotels are created equal. Some hotels are designed to cater to tourists. Others are geared toward business travelers. Some hotels are family friendly, while others are not. Some hotels are pet friendly, while others are dog friendly.

  • Some hotel rooms can be very dirty.

I never choose a hotel room on my trips. I find that they are usually overpriced and not as clean as I would like. I would much rather stay in a short-term rental apartment or a hostel.

I did it back then when I went to visit Bucharest. I found some great hotel-style apartments on https://www.mrg.apartments/.

I really liked having the convenience of cooking my own meals and having my own space to relax in after a long day of sightseeing.

  • Hotels are not suitable for large groups and families.

I also find that hotel rooms can often be quite cramped. If you are travelling with your family, it can even be more problematic. Finally, hotel rooms can often be quite impersonal. They are often decorated in a generic way and lack any personal touches.

Conclusion

I just can’t seem to resist the lure of a huge bed and the opportunity for some shut-eye. I won’t deny that hotel rooms are perfect for that. However, over the years I’ve come to understand the reasons why hotels tend not to be ideal for travel.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Vinyl Peel and Stick as a Backsplash

Published

on

Before you decide whether or not to use this type of material for your backsplash, you’ll need to know what its advantages and disadvantages are. This article will address such concerns as water resistance, durability, and ease of removal. Listed below are some benefits and disadvantages of vinyl peel and stick as a kitchen backsplash material. This material is often referred to as self-adhesive vinyl and is often made of PVC.

Disadvantages

When it comes to resale value, a vinyl tile stickers can make a great first impression. They look like a professional installation, and can even add depth to your kitchen or bathroom. The disadvantage of using a vinyl peel-and-stick backsplash is that they don’t have the depth that real tile will have when installed. But there are advantages as well.

The first benefit of using a peel-and-stick backsplash is that it doesn’t discolor or wear down. This is especially true of tiles made of real materials, such as ceramic, porcelain, or stone. While the peel-and-stick material will need to be cleaned and maintained regularly, it will last for years without wearing out. On the other hand, an entry-level vinyl peel-and-stick backsplash may not have the same longevity. In addition to this, peel-and-stick backsplash materials can be expensive, and you may want to consider investing in a real tile or stone material.

While these tiles can be cheap and easy to clean, they do have a few disadvantages. They can’t be installed behind a gas stove, so they aren’t a good option for backsplashes. The tiles can be easily removed and cleaned with ordinary household cleaners. They can also be reused if you move, but if you’re planning to sell your house in a few years, you should consider purchasing permanent adhesive.

Durability

There are many pros and cons to using vinyl peel and stick as a backsplash. While it may be easy to install, it lacks real character. If you do a little prepping before applying, it can last a very long time. The adhesive can be applied over different types of materials, including tiles and stone. Vinyl peel and stick is also easier to replace if you want to change the look in the future.

These tiles are also easy to install and care for. Because they are made of vinyl, they are water and moisture-resistant. However, you should be aware that if water is left on them for a long time, it can penetrate between the tile and the wall or the subfloor. To avoid this, you should consider installing underlayment before installing the tiles. This will prevent water from penetrating through gaps and damaging the floor or walls below them.

Water resistance

The peel-and-stick backsplash tiles are a great option for the kitchen. They mimic the look of real tile, but without all the mess and effort. Whether you want to add a modern flair or a classic feel, peel-and-stick tiles come in a wide variety of colors, patterns, and materials. If you’re looking for a backsplash tile that lasts for many years, consider vinyl.

When looking for a backsplash tile, it’s important to consider the water resistance of the material. Vinyl and PVC backsplash tiles are waterproof, but it depends on the quality of the material used. However, this type of tile can be used in the bathroom and kitchen. It’s also resistant to dust and is inexpensive. Water resistance is important, because vinyl backsplashes can be damaged by excessive moisture.

Easy to remove

If you’re looking for a backsplash solution that’s easy to install and remove, vinyl peel and stick is the answer. You can find a wide selection of colors, patterns, and designs, and they’re easy to cut to fit your space. Peel and stick panels adhere to the wall with minimal effort and don’t require a special cleanser. You can even apply the adhesive to a wet surface for a seamless look.

Conclusion

When it comes to peel-and-stick tile, the only thing you need to know is how to remove it without causing any damage to the walls or floor. To remove these tiles without causing any damage, you can use a hair dryer to help soften the adhesive. Then, carefully pull them out. After a few minutes, you should be able to remove them without too much difficulty.
