Human-Centered AI –Road To Being Better Humans

Published

on

There are several predictions made about the threat of AI by a rising band of AI doomsayers in past years. Among the predictions are future battles by killer robots and the need for humans to become cyborgs for staying relevant in the age of Artificial intelligence AI. These statements and predictions are not by only the limited technology leaders, for example, a renowned theoretical physicist has warned that “AI could spell the end of the human race”. Moreover, a British inventor also openly expressed his concerns about the human’s race inability to compete with more intelligent machines.

Simply put, there are worries that AI could be harmful if it falls into the wrong hands. In order to prevent it, the sector requires strong legal protections and strict oversight to make sure that innovations aren’t being abused or hijacked for any kind of criminal activity. Tay, Microsoft’s AI bot, and its series of anti-Semitic comments on Twitter are typical representations of how AI software can imitate user behavior obtained from publicly available data, especially in the absence of filters. Thankfully, Tay has become offline, and Microsoft is working on upgrades.

A Case for Stronger Controls

However, events like Tay’s corruption might be pushing the new tech of AI towards the gates of hell. For a new technology, it’s normal to have teething problems at the beginning. For instance, in the early days of cloud computing, everybody was concerned about their data being safe. There are many identitfy thefts and illegal hacking experts who were undoubtedly moving from the shadows waiting for sensitive data and breaching it. However, this concern didn’t prevent the organization from reaping the transformative benefits of cloud computing. There were eventually severe restrictions requiring cloud service providers to comply with certain standards. Today, security is no longer a big concern in cloud migrations.

Google, Facebook, IBM, Amazon, and Microsoft have just created a group named the Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society to develop best practices and carry out and publish research on all AI-related problems.

AI Can Make Us More Human

It is necessary to have a well-rounded and neutral perspective when extolling the benefits of technology. Consider that, despite decades of technological advancements, 9.6 % of the world’s population continues to dire poverty.  Despite all of the technical breakthroughs done in recent decades, a huge section of the world’s population is still fighting to thrive. So far, technology has primarily benefited the wealthy. By the sheer volume, speed, and accuracy it can bring to global and large-scale initiatives, AI has the ability to take the benefits of technology and learning and alter the lives of individuals who have been left behind.  In reality, AI has the prospect of assisting humans in becoming more human. AI can assist people in discovering possibilities to fully grow their distinct traits of imagination, creativity, and a sense of meaning. As an outcome, we will be able to address larger issues such as hunger, disease, and poverty.

The Power of AI

The majority of jobs in the 21st-century workforce are simply repetitive, necessary economic tasks. The present definition of a “job” is faulty. Much more is possible from something like the dynamic human mind. Imaginative, innovative, and cutting-edge issues like the social philanthropic condition are just what it needs to succeed. This is an area where AI specializes.

The procedures can be reduced to a single person that can not only use processed data to predict problems and offer corrective steps. A combination of cloud (for reality-based insights on which action can be taken) and digital consumers will enable this (to execute the recommended action). The result is increased operational productivity and improved business efficiency. For example, a large operation internet service provider company such as Xfinity is benefitting from AI with its implementation in customer services such as chatting with bots, navigating with help of AI, and getting frequent and faster help with the presence of AI auto-generated responses on problems occurs.

Similarly, robots can learn to think and behave based on data knowledge trees and human action knowledge trees using deep learning. They can be taught to understand how human and business events affect economic activity, allowing them to increase productivity.

Many businesses are making great efforts in this area to ensure the safety of AI innovation. AI can benefit BPO staff who handle complaints from customers such as in the example given above, the bank tellers who issue cash, and tollbooth workers who issue tickets. Consider a world in which healthcare providers use their digital avatars to deliver trustworthy real-time care without requiring patients to visit ERs.

By encouraging them to take on value-generating roles, AI and automation will cause a significant and constructive change in their lives. In industries like oilfield drilling and space exploration, where calculations are huge and extreme accuracy is demanded, AI and Deep AI can provide superior forecasts, benefiting engineers in enhancing drilling operations and allowing astrophysicists to make ground-breaking discoveries. The impact of digital natives and AI is boundless; to highlight a few, such technologies have the potential to positively impact banking, finance, agriculture, government operations, healthcare, drug development, and clinical trials.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, AI can improve the way that machines benefit humankind by bringing together digital and biological intelligence.

We can put our worries about a dystopian society or a future after a post-apocalyptic world where people serve robots. We shall focus more intensely on strengthening and bettering the human condition as we allow robots to perform some “jobs” for us. There will be a true demonstration of AI’s capabilities.
